Ingenious and suggestive water works of the 1st century BC – built before the best known Istanbul.
The underground construction is divided lengthwise by rows of pillars that
divide your environment 4 aisles covered by pseudo-cruise.
Located at the Summit of arce, corresponding to the current medieval village of Carlton,
It was fed by the headwaters of the hilly area of Santa Maria la Noce
to ensure the water supply of the ancient city of Formiae.
Exhibits strong typological affinity with two of the most important reservoirs of the ancient world,
such as "Piscina Mirabilis" from Miseno and the famous "Yerbatan Saray" of Istanbul,
and can be considered an important step in archaeological recovery
of the main examples of Roman hydraulic engineering.

In this enchanting place the visitor becomes a traveller-star surrounded by a dynamic space, involved a motion urging him to move toward the "focal point" of the environment-the former entrance to the ancient cistern.
Sounds, colors, play of light and shadows enliven this space, revealing details and new perspectives, from every corner of the visitor-the protagonist is able to perceive sensations.
