The village is built at the behest of Onorato I Caetani and grew on the ruins of an ancient Roman arce. Access was from the South, through the "gate of the Spaniards". It was enlarged during the works of fortification made in the 14th century, following the course of the slope, reaching an area of about 200 m. Original developments of the walls remain strokes near the entrance arch, in the North, and in the northeast corner, where the remains of a tower destroyed by the war. It can be assumed that the shape of the original structure was that of a triangle with the apex facing north, with the fence with towers.
